We are so excited to celebrate Staff Appreciation Week, here at Ray Crowe Elementary. Next week, our PTO will be showering our staff with gifts that go along with the theme “We’ll be there for you!”
Your students should be coming home with this flyer in their backpacks. It offers fun Friends-themed ways for them to show appreciation towards their teachers or other staff members in the building. If you’re looking for gift inspiration and ideas for a particular teacher, please click here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OeqQQgJ40334SfqUupdo1JZ-o-egONbfNZsbkB-mTm0/edit to find a teacher’s favorites list.
We will also be creating a display in the hallway entitled "The One Where We Say Thank You", and we need your help! Please fill out this form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeE76_k98dqdZb9iCYUi7cVhebGy288cHwo4U6iSlqsLMv0Vw/viewform) for any Teachers or Staff Members at Ray Crowe Elementary that you would like to recognize. We will print each message out and add them to our display for everyone to see. Please have all messages submitted by Thursday, May 9, 2024.
Please join us in thanking the wonderful staff here at our school, for all that they do on a daily basis for their students.
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, proudly recognized by Clark
Pleasant Community Schools, provides a wonderful opportunity for our community to
celebrate the diverse experiences and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific
Islanders to American society. This month-long celebration, established in 1990 by
President George H. W. Bush, encourages us to honor their resilience, achievements,
and rich cultural heritage.
Here are ways families can commemorate this special month:
- Explore Asian American and Pacific Islander history through books, documentaries, or
online resources.
- Attend local cultural events or virtual celebrations that showcase Asian American and
Pacific Islander traditions, art, and music.
- Try new foods by cooking traditional Asian American and Pacific Islander recipes at
home or dining at local restaurants specializing in these cuisines.
- Share stories, traditions, and experiences from Asian American and Pacific Islander
cultures with family and friends.
- Support local businesses owned by members of Asian American and Pacific Islander
communities.
Let’s come together as a community to celebrate diversity and promote greater
understanding and appreciation for the multicultural tapestry of America.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! #MHAM2024 #MentalHealthMatters

I know the end of the school year is crazy for everyone, but as you attend all the events and programs, remember most of these things are possible because of fundraising efforts and volunteers. In order for us to keep doing all of this, we have to continue to raise funds. What better way to do that then a fun night of dinner and games! Join us for a good time while helping us raise money to continue to support our schools! https://clarkpleasanteducationfoundation.networkforgood.c...

Mid-State Champs!
Last night, our Unified Track and Field team won the Mid-State Conference championship hosted by Franklin! In only its second year of existence, our Unified team has grown to over 50 students, and truly is one of the best things that the IHSAA offers!
Unified sports are a collaboration between the IHSAA and the Special Olympics that promotes servant leadership among student athletes while changing their lives as well as the lives of those with intellectual disabilities. I highly recommend that you make it a point to come to one of our home Unified Track meets (5/9 or 5/13) and support these student-athletes, you will be so glad you did!
"Administrative Professionals Day"

Volunteers are needed for the Spring Book Fair. This will be April 22-26. The signup genius is divided by days, grades, and classes so you can volunteer during your student's book fair time. You can also pick additional shifts that work with your schedule.
The school had to adjust the library/book fair schedule a little due to iLearn testing for grades 3-5. The day your student will attend library has not changed, but the time may be different from their normal schedule. Click this link to sign up for the book fair: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E44AFAA22A4FBC25-48503021-rces
Reminder: all volunteers must have attended a volunteer orientation session with Ms. Lewis and have a current background check through CPCSC. These can be completed at https://secure.safevisitor.io/Safe/Volunteer/000068/vol
Course Complete!
The check is no longer in the mail but in the hands of two Ray Crowe teachers. A Kindergarten teacher and Instructional Coach, Trisha Ruppert and Shanna Mattax have both completed a Science of Reading course through the Indiana Department of Education. They did it on their own time.
Ray Crowe Principal, Cirsten Lewis, Director of Curriculum, Brian Lovell and Superintendent, Dr. Timothy Edsell, presented checks to the two, on Wednesday, for completing the course. The teachers finished the course in February with a score of 80% or higher through the Indiana Learning Lab. The compensation comes from 5 Star Technology.
