Duke Energy provided technical assistance and more than $100,000 in energy efficiency incentives
PLAINFIELD, Ind. – Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation recently completed several energy efficiency upgrades in its school buildings that will result in nearly 600,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy saved per year.
The school corporation leveraged Duke Energy’s Smart $aver® program for organizations, which provides cash rebates and custom incentives to encourage the purchase and installation of energy-efficient equipment. As part of multiple retrofit projects, Clark-Pleasant will receive more than $100,000 in rebates for lighting and chiller replacements.
“Our collaboration with Duke Energy has helped us work toward sustainable and energy-efficient school designs,” said Dr. Timothy Edsell, superintendent of Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation. “We’re grateful for their continued support, which helps us reduce operating costs while teaching our students the value of environmental responsibility.”
The school’s energy savings equates to approximately 393 metric tons of carbon dioxide reduction from our air, or the equivalent of removing 91 gas-powered passenger cars from the road each year.
“Programs like this not only help our customers manage their costs, but they also help us manage a growing demand for energy on our system,” said Jean Renk, government and community relations manager for Duke Energy. “Through Smart $aver, in particular, we have helped participating Indiana businesses save more than $25 million in the last four years.”
Last year, Duke Energy awarded approximately $7 million in incentives and rebates to participating Indiana business customers under its energy efficiency programs, including Smart $aver, accounting for approximately 53 million kWh of energy reduction.
