We are thrilled to congratulate the outstanding Spanish students from WCHS who have demonstrated excellence on the 2024 National Spanish Exam (NSE), earning well-deserved national recognition.
In this year's competition, students secured a remarkable 1 gold, and
3 bronze medals, in addition to 15 honorable mentions. The achievement of earning a medal or honorable mention on the National Spanish Exam (NSE) is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students.
The AATSP Exams is a program of the esteemed American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). With a rich history dating back to 1957, the National Spanish Exam (NSE) is administered annually from grades 6 through 12 and serves as a cornerstone of academic achievement in Spanish language education. As the largest of their kind in the United States, the NSE attracted over 80,000 student participants in 2024. Achieving gold, silver, or bronze status in the NSE opens doors for students to explore a variety of scholarship opportunities provided through the AATSP Exams program. Information about the AATSP Exams can be found at www.nationalspanishexam.org.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the competition and commend them for their hard work, determination, and commitment to mastering the Spanish language.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, proudly recognized by Clark
Pleasant Community Schools, provides a wonderful opportunity for our community to
celebrate the diverse experiences and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific
Islanders to American society. This month-long celebration, established in 1990 by
President George H. W. Bush, encourages us to honor their resilience, achievements,
and rich cultural heritage.
Here are ways families can commemorate this special month:
- Explore Asian American and Pacific Islander history through books, documentaries, or
online resources.
- Attend local cultural events or virtual celebrations that showcase Asian American and
Pacific Islander traditions, art, and music.
- Try new foods by cooking traditional Asian American and Pacific Islander recipes at
home or dining at local restaurants specializing in these cuisines.
- Share stories, traditions, and experiences from Asian American and Pacific Islander
cultures with family and friends.
- Support local businesses owned by members of Asian American and Pacific Islander
communities.
Let’s come together as a community to celebrate diversity and promote greater
understanding and appreciation for the multicultural tapestry of America.
