Looking for something to do tomorrow evening? We would like to invite you to our Pre-ISSMA Concert tomorrow, April 17th at 7:00PM in the WCHS auditorium! This is a concert choir only performance. All of our choirs here at WCHS have been working hard to prepare for our annual adjudication at the Indiana State School Music Association events happening this month. This concert serves as an opportunity for our students to present a portion of their ISSMA performance for our home audience before competing. Exciting news from FFA! FOUR of our members have been named State Winners in the 2024 Indiana FFA Proficiency Contest! Proficiencies are based on students' Supervised Agricultural Experience Programs, which are work based experience programs within agriculture. These members completed extensive record books and portfolios (20+ pages) about the skills learned and hours worked at their positions. The following four members will be advancing to the National FFA Proficiency Contest in October! They will be recognized as State Winners at the 2024 Indiana FFA State Convention this summer! Josie Kelsay - Outdoor Recreation Brody Polesel - Diversified Livestock Production Cian Cribbs - Agricultural Education Sydney Pryor - Veterinary Science In addition, Ollie Taylor was also named a Top 4 finalist, earning 3rd Overall in the State with his Vegetable Production proficiency. Whiteland, IN – April 9, 2024 – Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Now in its 25th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students. To qualify for the Best Communities designation, CPCSC answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas. “I am super excited to announce that CPCSC is one of only 17 school districts in the State of Indiana named a NAMM "Best Communities for Music Education", stated Whiteland Band Director, Peter Sampson. “Congratulations to all of the music teachers, our amazing students, and of course our incredible school administration. This is definitely a recognition worth celebrating”, said Sampson. Research into music education continues to demonstrate educational/cognitive and social skill benefits for children who make music: After two years of music education, researchers found that participants showed more substantial improvements in how the brain processes speech and reading scores than their less-involved peers and that students who are involved in music are not only more likely to graduate high school but also to attend college as well. In addition, everyday listening skills are stronger in musically trained children than in those without music training. Significantly, listening skills are closely tied to the ability to: perceive speech in a noisy background, pay attention, and keep sounds in memory. Later in life, individuals who took music lessons as children show stronger neural processing of sound: young adults and even older adults who have not played an instrument for up to 50 years show enhanced neural processing compared to their peers. Whiteland Girls Track & Field take the Columbus North Invitational in dominating fashion! The Warriors score 50 more points than the second place team to walk away with a first place finish! Boys finish in seventh.

Seniors and Parents, please mark your calendars for this important meeting! Thursday, April 11th 6p-7p Finalizing the FAFSA for Seniors/Parents at WCHS (LGI) Presentation for families regarding the steps they need to take to finalize their financial aid plan to maximize FREE money and minimize debt. We discuss the Student Aid Report (SAR) to review FAFSA errors, the verification process, how to review state grant edit issues on ScholarTrack portal, loan options and how to compare financial aid awards. 4p-6p INvestEd will be available for two hours before the 6:00 pm meeting to help parents submit the FAFSA and to answer any last minute questions. The FAFSA deadline is April 15th!

Dear Clark-Pleasant Families, This is a final reminder that a total solar eclipse will take place, Monday, April 8, 2024. This eclipse will reach across 16 states but will be most prominent in Central Indiana, especially in Johnson County. Therefore like many nearby school districts, we are making plans for a live synchronous E-Learning Day on 04/08/2024. Learning will continue online, Monday and we hope it will be a great educational opportunity for our students to learn more about the solar system. We are making this decision out of an abundance of caution as the eclipse will take place in Indiana for over several hours. Additionally, we are being told by local emergency management officials that there will be a significant influx of visitors coming to Johnson County during this time period creating major concerns with transportation and traffic congestion. Percussion! Saturday night, due to their terrific performance, the 2024 Whiteland Indoor Percussion Ensemble has been named an IPA Class A STATE FINALIST!! Congratulations to Kate Lang and all of the talented students in this year's ensemble! A great start to Spring Break!

Softball Fundraiser! The deadline is Friday!!!

Econ Mall! There were cute cupcakes, colorful cookies and pretty pastries all for sale at the WCHS Econ Mall Wednesday. The annual event provides real-life lessons for students in Economics class. They learn what it's like to start a small business, how to market their products and how much to charge for them. Unfortunately they sometimes learn they have priced items to high. That's where the lesson of supply and demand comes into play. Regardless of how each student does at the event the bottom line is "CASH". Hopefully they made some and If they did they get to keep it. Of course then they learn how to take out their business expenses giving some the hope of just "breaking even".

Welcome Dean Sinzinger! Clark-Pleasant Schools would like to welcome our newest Dean of Students, Katie Sinzinger. She will work with seniors at WCHS. Mrs. Sinzinger previously worked at Franklin Community Schools. She has a Masters degree in Education.
