HUGE congratulations to WCHS Band Director, Pete Sampson!
Mr. Sampson has been inducted into the Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters' Fraternity, the highest honorary international band director’s fraternity! This honor is earned by directors who lead consistently superior bands and demonstrate incredible professional leadership.
Membership in Phi Beta Mu is not simply granted; it is earned through rigorous selection criteria, signifying exceptional success and professional leadership. To be considered, a band director must:
* Currently lead a consistently superior band.
*Demonstrate leadership and contribute to the progress of bands through publications, compositions, dissertations, or outstanding performances.
*Hold a reputation for impeccable personal character.
Upon receiving the news, Mr. Sampson expressed his gratitude and perspective on the achievement:
"This is a big honor in our profession and I am beyond grateful to have been inducted this past weekend. Becoming a member of Phi Beta Mu is known nationally as being an honor given to those who have been successful with their band program and thus earned the respect of their peers.
I look at this honor as a reflection of our band program here at Whiteland and all of the hard work our students put into creating musical excellence in all that we do. I love to teach music each day here at Clark-Pleasant and couldn't ask for a better support system from our community and school district."
We are so proud to have this level of musical leadership at Whiteland Community High School!
(More about this honor will be shared in our NEW corporation newsletter, The Clark-Pleasant Chronicle, which will be pushed out later this month!)

We had over 150 Whiteland community members in attendance to cheer them on, and our students absolutely shined.
Thank you to our Whiteland Community High School Choirs for representing our schools with such talent and pride! 💙🤍

From the AMC 12A to Math Day @ Franklin College, our students have been showing off their skills and passion for math.
In early November, seven Warriors tackled the rigorous 2025 American Mathematics Competition 12A exam:
Rhys Williams, Ashley Cooprider, CJ Napier, Mia Kuchaes, Madison Fleury, Cooper Adams, and Grady Rouse.
Special shoutout to Rhys Williams for leading the way!
Later in November, 17 students represented WCHS at Math Day @ Franklin College, competing in teams of three during a 2-hour, 6-question challenge. With a mean score of 19 and a median of 15, our top team — Will Watson and CJ Napier — placed 22nd out of 56 teams!
And a big cheer for freshman Faith Blue, who took on “So You Think You Know Math?” and finished 3rd out of 8!
Huge thanks to Mr. Tim Fish for inspiring and supporting our math-loving Warriors! 💙📐

Last week, Taylor Tatlock’s AP Environmental Science students visited Franklin College for an inspiring day of learning. Dr. O’Neal shared research conducted by both faculty and students and how their findings connect to environmental trends across different states and countries.
Students also had the chance to hear college researchers present their work on stream health right here in Franklin, IN.
What an incredible opportunity to see environmental science come alive beyond the classroom!

Today, our Intensive Resource Department hosted their annual Thanksgiving Feast, a tradition filled with gratitude, togetherness, and the joy of sharing a meal with the students and families we cherish so deeply. There’s nothing quite like coming together as a community — especially around the Thanksgiving table.

Thank you to our title sponsor Simplify Real Estate and dinner sponsor Sugar Creek Barbeque Co.

Veterans Day Program number three for the corporation today comes from WCHS. They hosted a small but special luncheon today for a few special guests.

💜 Proud to Announce: Whiteland Community High School is a 2025 Indiana Purple Star School! 💜
We are honored to be recognized as a 2025 Indiana Purple Star School, a designation awarded to schools that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to supporting service members, veterans, and military-connected students and families.
This recognition reflects the dedication of our staff, students, and community to ensuring that those who serve — and their families — are welcomed, supported, and celebrated at Whiteland Community High School.
Thank you to our military families for the sacrifices you make and the strength you bring to our community. We are proud to support you today and always.
Here are some photos of the memorial walls that were installed at the high school last year.

What a week for the WCHS Visual Arts Department!
Last week, 16 Whiteland student artists showcased their talent at the Franklin College High School Art Exhibit, joining students from across central Indiana. With over 240 pieces displayed, this exhibit gives students the chance to have their work shown in a professional gallery and evaluated by Franklin College art professors.
Even more exciting — exhibiting seniors were eligible for up to $2,000 per year in scholarship opportunities if they choose to attend Franklin College after graduation! We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented Whiteland.
And we have big news to celebrate:
Senior Sarah Orange had one of her paintings selected by Purdue University to be featured in their Biennial Juried High School Art Exhibition! With submissions coming from across the state and limited pieces chosen, this is an amazing accomplishment. Her artwork will travel to West Lafayette and be showcased on Purdue’s campus.
Thank you to our students for continually inspiring us with their creativity, and thank you to our community for supporting the arts at WCHS.

Our members spent the week representing Whiteland Community High School and the State of Indiana at the 98th National FFA Convention & Expo. More than 100 Indiana FFA members from 26 chapters competed at Nationals, and Whiteland FFA was proud to be part of this group representing our state!
Earlier this year, the Whiteland FFA Nursery & Landscape Management Team—Jack Kelsay, Cazmin Tomamichel, Lillian Nick, and Emily Neer—earned the Indiana State Championship. This week, they took the national stage, competing against the best in the country at the National Nursery & Landscape CDE. After months of preparation and hard work, they brought home a Bronze National Team Ranking, and Lillian Nick earned a Silver individual ranking!
A huge thank you to the community partners who helped our Nursery & Landscape team prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity:
• CPCSC Grounds Department – ZTR Mower training
• Greg Ilko – Grading & drainage practice
• Brad Ott & Bruce Smith – Surveying insights
• Miss M’s Home & Garden – Plant ID practice
Brody Polesel, Josie Kelsay, Addyson Cox, and Cian Cribbs received their American FFA Degree—the highest degree an FFA member can earn. Only 1% of members nationwide achieve this milestone. Congratulations—we are so proud of your leadership, dedication, and impact on Whiteland FFA!
Our chapter was also recognized on the national stage as Whiteland FFA received the National 3-Star Chapter Award—the highest honor a chapter can earn! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The week was also filled with hands-on learning and unforgettable experiences, including:
🍯 Touring Hunters Honey Farm to learn about hive care, pollination, honey production—and bottling their own honey
🐐 Visiting Risin’ Creek Creamery to learn about dairy goat production, animal management, and cheese making
🤠And fun at the rodeo!
Thank you to our community, supporters, and agricultural partners for helping our students grow, lead, and achieve their goals. What a week to be a Warrior and a part of Whiteland FFA!
