A Statement Regarding the Passing of Clark-Pleasant School Board Member, Dave Thompson.
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of School Board Member, Dave Thompson. Dave was not only a school board member but a man who was passionate about and fought for the constant improvement of educational opportunities in this school corporation. His mission was first and foremost to prepare our students for life but as a full-time teacher and coach for 40 years, he also spoke up for the rights of teachers, administrators, and Clark-Pleasant families.
Dave held the Pleasant Township seat on the board and just last year had served as board president. He attended Indiana State University, obtaining bachelor's and master’s degrees in Education. He taught at Clark-Pleasant Middle School for 39 years and coached high school wrestling and football for 40 years. As a coach, he is a member of the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame. He had 4 wrestling state champions during his tenure as coach.
Dave and his wife, Susan, a long-time English teacher at Whiteland Community High School, have two daughters, Brooke and Brette. Brooke teaches English at WCHS and serves as president of The Clark-Pleasant Education Association (CPEA). Brette, who also taught Biology at WCHS lives with her family in Fort Wayne. Mr. Thompson also leaves behind Isabella, Eleanor, and Vivian, his granddaughters.
“I will miss Dave Thompson. If you looked in the dictionary under “educator”, Dave’s name would be there”, says superintendent, Dr. Timothy Edsell. “He was a teacher, coach, mentor, and board member but most of all he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. No one loved Clark-Pleasant Schools more than Dave Thompson”. Fellow board member and friend for 50 years, “Butch” Zike says all of Dave’s students thought the world of him, “Dave’s goals were not based on winning and losing but on making a kid’s life better”, said Zike. He says the school board will especially miss Dave’s common sense.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Thompson family.
Sincerely,
Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation.

Superior - Gold - Top 10!!!
Whiteland FFA is excited to share that the Indiana FFA Association has named our chapter a 2023-2024 Superior, Gold, & Big 10 FFA Chapter! This means Whiteland FFA has been ranked Top 10 of the 224 FFA Chapters in our state! This is the highest ranking possible bestowed by the state.
The chapter will be recognized for this achievement at the 2024 Indiana FFA State Convention this summer. The chapter will also now advance to the National level and compete against the top chapters in the country for a national ranking! We should know those results sometime in August.

Rising Up!
The future home of the Whiteland Warriors is rising out of the ground as today steelworkers began placing the three-story high steel beams into the cement pad of the new school building. The square notches in the beams indicate where each floor will go. This is just one-half of the pad that will be poured eventually. Also clearly visible today was the new elevator shaft and the area where the new swimming pool will be located. Once the steel goes up the 235-million dollar project will start moving rapidly.

This Memorial Day, we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We also honor their families, friends, and fellow service members who mourn them. There is help for Veterans struggling with grief, loss, or trauma at 988lifeline.org/help-yourself/veterans/. #MHAM2024
