Last night CPCSC was proud to honor Laura Dalton, from Clark-Pleasant Early Learning Center, as our Recognize Excellence Classified Employee for September! Congratulations Laura!! Keep up the good work.

Today, we celebrate the power of reading and writing to change lives. Literacy is the foundation of education and a key to unlocking a world of opportunities for our students. It empowers them to learn, grow, and communicate effectively, not just in the classroom, but throughout their entire lives.
Let's take a moment to thank our dedicated teachers, librarians, and parents who work tirelessly to foster a love of reading in our young learners.

Want your student to be successful in school? Attendance matters, and here's why. While missing a day or two here and there can seem harmless, those days compound over time, leading to significant learning gaps.
Missing 1 day a week adds up to over 2.5 years of missed schooling over 13 years.
Missing 2 days a week adds up to more than 5 years of missed schooling over 13 years.
Regular attendance is one of the most important factors for academic success. Let's work together to ensure our students are in class and on track to reach their full potential!

Today, we honor the American workforce and the dedication of all workers who contribute to our community. We hope our students, families, and staff are enjoying a well-deserved day of rest and celebration.

Thinking "I'm just a little late" might not seem like a big deal, but these numbers show a different story.
Whether it's 10, 20, or even 60 minutes, those small moments of tardiness can steal valuable time from your school experience. The time you miss today could be a chance to learn something new, get help from a teacher, or connect with your classmates.
Let's prioritize punctuality and make the most of every minute we have at school. What's one small change you can make this week to be on time?

Johnson County has been home to Brad and his family for generations. Brad's grandfather was a 1962 graduate of Whiteland High School, his grandmother a graduate of Franklin High School, his parents both graduated from Greenwood Community High School, and Brad also graduated from Greenwood Community High School in 2009. Brad is a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington with a degree in Public Finance. He and his wife, Hannah, live in Greenwood. Together, they have five year old identical twin daughters and a three year old son.
From 2020 through 2023, Brad served on the Greenwood Common Council as an at-large member. "I served on the Greenwood Common Council as a way to give back to a community that means so much to me and has given my family so much. I am very family oriented and decided not to run for an additional term so that I could spend time with my growing family without sacrificing the dedication needed by an elected official."
Brad has worked in the Office of School Finance as the Director of Nonpublic Schools at the Indiana Department of Education for the past ten years. Brad has spent years working with school reporting, funding, and compliance. "I am beyond excited to join the Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation in this role. It is a great direction for me professionally but provides me with yet another way to serve this great community. Dr. Edsell and the team at Clark-Pleasant have put the corporation in a great position and I look forward to utilizing my skills to continue moving Clark-Pleasant on an upward trajectory."
Please help us welcome Brad to our Clark-Pleasant Family!!

Last week was a big one for our community! We were featured in the Daily Journal for two major accomplishments: fantastic IREAD scores and leading the county in FAFSA completion. 👏
Our students at Clark-Pleasant Community School Corp. showed amazing progress with a 91.2% proficiency rate on the IREAD assessment, up from 87.1% last year! We couldn't be prouder of their hard work. You can read the full story here: https://dailyjournal.net/2025/08/18/johnson-county-statewide-iread-scores-make-strides/
Whiteland Community High School students also made us proud by completing the FAFSA at a higher rate than any other school in the county! A remarkable 66.3% of seniors and 84.2% of 21st Century Scholars completed the form—a significant jump from 57% last year. This will help so many of our students secure financial aid for college. Check out the details here: https://dailyjournal.net/2025/08/14/indiana-hits-60-fafsa-completion-johnson-county-schools-improve/
We're so proud of our students, staff, and community for these incredible achievements! 🎉

A major highlight was a special seminar with renowned speaker and national drug trends expert, Jermaine "Tall Cop" Galloway! He shared crucial prevention education, strategies, and awareness to help our educators understand the evolving landscape and how to best protect our students.
As Jermaine says, "You can't stop what you don't know." Our team is now better equipped with the knowledge to keep our students safe and supported.
