This morning, more than 50 students gathered together at Whiteland Community High School for See You at the Pole, a student-led event where participants join in prayer and reflection around the school flagpole.
Held annually on the fourth Wednesday of September, this global, student-led and student-initiated movement gives students an opportunity to come together voluntarily to share in a moment of unity, encouragement, and personal faith at school flagpoles before the day begins to pray for their schools, communities, nation, and the world.
A special thank you to Gracehouse Church for bringing donuts this morning and joining our students in prayer.

What does it take to start a business in middle school? Clark-Pleasant Middle School students got the inside scoop today from someone who knows exactly what that looks like.
As part of College & Career Week, Ms. Shannon Proctor’s 7th grade computer science class welcomed Whiteland Community High School senior, Troy Merchant, co-owner of Merchant Brothers Cotton Candy (which also serves Hershey’s Ice Cream.)
Troy and his brother started their business back in 2021—when he was in 8th grade and his brother was in 6th—after buying an industrial cotton candy machine at an auction for just $200 (worth about $2,000!). Since then, they’ve grown their business, created a logo, built a model, solved real-world problems, and learned the ins and outs of being young entrepreneurs.
Today, Troy shared that journey with our students—answering questions, sharing stories, and even selling cotton candy and ice cream right in the classroom.
This week, students also heard from other local entrepreneurs:
✨ Brad Goedecker – Owner of Rascal’s Fun Zone
✨ Tracy Bohler – Owner of Farm Girl Mercantile
✨ Tim Rinehold – Principal at CPMS & Owner of Rinehold Honey
And next week, the learning continues with food truck vendors!
Through this unit, students aren’t just hearing stories—they’re living them. They’re challenged to create their own mobile businesses: designing logos, writing business plans, budgeting, building websites, and more.
A huge congratulations to Mrs. Proctor for designing such a creative, hands-on way to bring real-world learning into the classroom. Her dedication is giving students the chance to connect with local entrepreneurs, think critically, and imagine what’s possible for their own futures.

Congratulations to Patty Evans, our incredible Clark-Pleasant Middle School science teacher, on being awarded a STEM Grant through the Community Career + Education Forum (CCEF), sponsored by Endress+Hauser!
A veteran of 36 years in the classroom, Mrs. Evans received $1,575 for her project “Light Explorers – Engineering and Design in Action.” With nearly 170 students each day, she is giving every student the opportunity to explore hands-on learning with mirrors, lenses, and prisms to manipulate and bend light in creative ways.
Through this project, students will apply the Engineering Design Process to brainstorm, test, and refine experiments—connecting physical science concepts to real-world applications like optics, cameras, and telescopes. By the end, they’ll demonstrate their understanding of reflection, refraction, and light properties while sharing their findings through engaging presentations.
Huge thank-you to Endress+Hauser and congratulations to Patty Evans for turning great ideas into real-world lessons that inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers!

Congratulations to 5 of our CPMS band students that performed at the Greenwood Community Band Side by Side Concert on Sunday!

You may remember Emmy—the brave Pleasant Crossing kindergartener who received a police and fire escort on her very first day of school. That day, our community lined the streets to encourage her and show just how loved she is. Now, we have another chance to lift her up—this time with our words.
Today’s radio program will be filled with encouragement and love from those who know her story. We invite you to tune in STARTING AT NOON to hear these powerful messages, and keep Emmy and her family in your thoughts.

Multi-Lingual Common Communities in CPCSC
We warmly invite our Punjabi- and Spanish-speaking families to join us for Common Communities, a welcoming time to connect with other families and school staff. Dr. Edsell will share updates on high school construction as well as information about attendance and cultural or religious observances. Our Tech Team will show families how to use Skyward to check grades and how to choose their preferred language in ParentSquare. If time allows, families will also have a chance to share their experiences from the beginning of the year, ask questions, and let us know what’s important to them. We look forward to seeing you there!
Please let us know if you can attend!
Tuesday, September 23 – Spanish Speakers & Families, 6:00 PM
Wednesday, September 24 – Punjabi Speakers & Families, 6:00 PM

This year's class had the most volunteers, the most bacon (35 pounds!!), the longest lines for food and probably the BEST sunrise we have seen in the last few years.
We’d love to see this moment through your eyes! 📸

In honor of Constitution Day on September 17, Whiteland Community High School was pleased to welcome Judge Martha Blood Wentworth on Thursday, September 11.
Judge Wentworth served on the Indiana Tax Court from 2011–2024, after being appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels. She is also a respected educator, having taught state and local taxation at the Kelley School of Business and the McKinney School of Law, and has published numerous articles on tax law.
During her visit, juniors and seniors had the opportunity to hear her speak about the U.S. Constitution, landmark Supreme Court cases, and important issues such as freedom of speech and student rights. Her insights gave students a deeper understanding of how the Constitution continues to impact their daily lives.
What a powerful way to connect our students to history, law, and the living document that shapes our democracy.

With the passing of Indiana Senate Bill 350, schools are now required to establish a comprehensive Cardiac Emergency Response Plan to ensure quick, life-saving action in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.
At Clark-Pleasant, we’re ahead of the curve thanks to the leadership of Lora Dilley, Health & Nursing Services Coordinator. On Friday, August 22nd, during our E-Learning day, staff participated in the first round of training focused on preparing for cardiac emergencies.
This important work ensures our team is ready to respond swiftly and effectively if a crisis arises. Additional trainings will take place across all CPCSC buildings in the weeks ahead.
Keeping our students, staff, and community safe is at the heart of everything we do.

Last week we posted: Finn, a student at Pleasant Crossing Elementary, has been selected as a Finalist for the "Artist of the Week" contest for grades PreK-3.
At Pleasant Crossing Elementary, they use a program called Artsonia to share artwork with families and it serves as a digital portfolio for each student. Artsonia does a weekly contest and amongst tens of thousands of artworks submitted each week, one of our student pieces was picked!! If Finn wins, he will get a $50 giftcard for art supplies and our program will get $100 towards supplies!

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! 🎉
From September 15 to October 15, we celebrate the rich histories, diverse cultures, and incredible contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to our country.
Our school community is made stronger by the vibrant traditions, languages, and stories of our Hispanic and Latino families. We are proud to honor the many ways they enrich our classrooms, our community, and our lives every day.
Our Spanish Honor Society has created a display at the administration building as one of the many things they are doing this month. Join us in celebrating this month by learning something new about Hispanic heritage and culture!
