They Did It!!! It all started with a goal to get a Valentines card from all 50 states. Now with cards from North Dakota and Delaware, on the way, it is mission accomplished for Mrs. Maxwell's kindergarten class at Pleasant Crossing. With over 150 cards received there are some from every state and about a dozen different countries. Mrs. Maxwell says the card project has led to several lessons and discussions with her students like how the mail system operates. They've learned about geography by exploring different states and countries, their flowers, birds, animals and other things. The kids also learned about different treats connected to different states like the box of strawberry Moon Pies they got from Tennessee. She says she's not sure how the kids will react when the cards stop coming now that Valentine's day is over. The kindergarten teacher put the request for cards on her Facebook page and asked friends to share and share what they did. She says this class project won't officially end until the end of February.

"ABE" Visits BES! An honest Hoosier spoke to students at BES about his life and legacy. 4th grade was visited by none other than “Abraham Lincoln” who gave a glimpse into history through storytelling. A huge thanks to CPEF for providing the grant to fund this convocation.

Willy Wonka Visits PCES! Last Thursday, "Willy Wonka", (Brandi Speight), visited 2nd graders in the gymnasium. Mrs. Speight has been reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to 2nd graders and concluded the book recently. The PCES PTO purchased a Hershey's candy bars for every 2nd grade student that were then wrapped in a wrapper to look like it is a Willy Wonka candy bar, like in the book. The RA team passed these out to each 2nd grader. 6 of the bars will had a "golden ticket" placed inside for an extra prize. The goal is always to drum up the excitement around books and reading and what better time than now approaching IREAD and all the standardized testing that our students take.

Which Will Win? Will it be the KC Tailgater foot long cheese dog with hot cheetos....or will it be the 49ers Cali Burger with guac? Whiteland Community High School students will decide the outcome, with their purchases, but the last we heard the KC Tailgater was in the lead. Students had some super fun Friday visiting the appropriately decorated cafeteria where the usual lunch fare was available but the two football themed items were hot sellers. Clark-Pleasant Food Services says the culinary competition is design to make it a fun lunch day for students and that seemed to be the outcome.

Clark-Pleasant Schools Plan for Solar Eclipse Dear Clark-Pleasant Families, We would like to make you aware that a total solar eclipse will take place April 8, 2024. This eclipse will reach across 16 states but will be most prominent in Central Indiana, especially in Johnson County. Therefore like many nearby school districts, we are making plans for a "live," synchronous E-Learning Day on 04/08/2024. We are making this decision out of an abundance of caution as the eclipse will take place in Indiana for over several hours. Additionally, we are being told by local emergency management officials that there will be a significant influx of visitors coming to Johnson County during this time period creating major concerns with transportation and congestion. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to your respective school building administrators. Sincerely, Dr. Timothy Edsell Superintendent Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation

GLOBAL DAY OF PLAY!!! Today is Global School Play Day, observed annually every first Wednesday in February. This day promotes the importance of unstructured, regular play for children. The campaign was started by a group of six educators in 2015. Students at the Clark-Pleasant Early Leaning Center spent the morning going to different rooms to experience different things to play with such as paste and glitter, jumping on mini trampolines, constructing things out of blocks and other snap together toys. One of the favorite rooms was dancing to fun music with a bubble machine. Principal Kristin Parisi says it's hard to tell who enjoys this day more; the kids or the teachers.
